How does the Spirit prosper among us?
People in the Meeting come to Meeting for different reasons. Some come for nourishment of their spiritual development and to recharge from a week of work, sometimes in difficult or stressful situations. Some come to join with others who share a vision of working for peace or environmental action. Some come for fellowship or for their children to experience a Meeting community and religious education in the Quaker style. We find ourselves energized with our new Meeting House but still small enough that we don’t have enough people to do all things. Continue reading →

Interchange – Spring 2011

We are enjoying our new Meeting House and the fellowship that comes with taking care of our own place. We are enjoying the new faces that have joined us for worship and fellowship. We were excited to hold a special meeting for worship on March 19, 2011 in celebration of the upcoming wedding of Michael Hulburt and Anna Best. The couple will be married under the care of Richmond Friends Meeting on April 23, 2011.

Interchange – Winter 2010

Blacksburg Friends have completed the construction of their new Meeting House. Located at 404 Mt. Tabor Road in Blackburg, Meeting for Worship was scheduled to be held for the first time on First First Day, Second Month. The Meeting House had its first event on the last day of January, when the 85th birthday of Laurel Kassoff was celebrated.

Interchange – Spring 2009

Blacksburg Friends have been working on a small piece of land for the past four years to prepare it for a new Meeting House. On monthly workdays we have planted trees and flowers, built fences, built a picnic shelter, and enjoyed outdoor Meeting for Worship, Earth day celebrations, and Advent celebrations. Our Meeting has grown together and is excited to embark on a new chapter of Blacksburg Friends Meeting. Continue reading →
